We recently had the great pleasure to contribute over 30mins of animated ambient content to the WW1 Centenary Exhibition now showing at the Melbourne Museum to commemorate the Centenary of the First World War. Below is an image from the immersive central trench walkway space which forms the spine and pathway of the exhibition and features a giant animated panorama projected across 4 huge screens. pictureDRIFT have contributed 4 minutes of animation to the feature documentary 35 Letters which is premiering at the Sydney Film Festival this Friday May 6. Our role was to visualise the beautifully poetic letters and wishes of Angelique Flowers. The film is produced by Ikandy films and directed by Janine Hosking.
35 Letters has won the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary at the 2014 Sydney FIlm Festival. Congratulations to Janine, Steve and Martin from Ikandy films.
pictureDRIFT has recently created the on-air ident to launch the mtv summer 2014 campaign. The ident was shot at Watsons Bay baths by Kevin Scott and features Le Tanned guys and girls in brightly coloured swim wear, jumping, swimming, floating and basking in the sun as they multiply to the beat to fill the scene. This was a great concept and a really fun project to be involved with. It also provided a great opportunity to collaborate with music composer Justin Cetinich to create the mtv sound of summer. check it out here in the projects section
Playschool once again commissioned pictureDRIFT to create the program opener, broadcast graphics and logo for it's latest new series. We continued our collaboration with the freakishly talented art department team at ABC’s Children’s Television, photographer Anthony Geernaert and this time round worked with stop motion expert Damien Lay. The amazing Jennifer Gauci-Cook built and animated the fabric rainbow.

A totally new program and promo package was commissioned by Nickelodeon for 2013 Camp Orange. This season is called Spill Seekers and was filmed on location at Sea World on the Gold Coast. Two epic new tvc's created for QBE insurance air today. Our treatment involved creating a continuous fluid and free moving camera, which navigates through epic, expansive three dimensional scenes "frozen" at the point of action.
This project provided our first experience with using 3d camera mapping in Cinema 4D and projection man. Each scene was built from a mix of stock and commissioned photography which was camera projected onto 3d geometry, creating vast three dimensional spaces frozen in time for the camera to navigate.
Our typographic promo for Studio channel's Romeo & Juliet Live has won Gold for Best Music / Arts Promo at the 2012 Promax BDA ANZ Awards
We also created the opening titles for the program which involved filming macro details of the Japanese shibori fabrics used in the costume designs by Akira Isogawa.
Little Ted's Big Adventure book has arrived in book stores. It is a proud moment to see our illustrations featured in this fantastic kids book by Harper Collins and Play School
Big thanks to Venetia Armstrong-Smith from the Playschool art department for all of the great props.
SlimeFest combines the winning formula of slime, music, and Nickelodeon’s kid entertainment know-how. In Late 2012 two frenzied slimy shows at the Horden Pavilion in Sydney sold out in a matter of hours. pictureDRIFT created a full graphics package featuring 3d slime animations created in Real Flow for the on-air broadcast and promotion. We also created over an hours animated content to fill three huge LED screens which formed the basis of the Slime Fest stage including visuals for ten individual performing artists including Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian as well as branding and Slime game titles and graphics.
